As we say in the Philippines — Mabuhay!

Welcome to my blog. This is a way for me to describe what ambassadors overseas do — well, this one at any rate. The amazing diversity of the job is one of the things I like most about working in the foreign service. Through the blog I hope to show you the sorts of things I do to represent New Zealand’s interests in the Philippines, and to gather information for reporting back on developments in this country that are relevant to New Zealand.
This is my first posting as an ambassador, and I thought blogging would be a fun way to remember and share some of my experiences in the Philippines. I’m also very keen — as a fellow New Zealand taxpayer — that people in New Zealand know how their money is spent overseas, and what sorts of things we at the embassy get up to in promoting our country’s interests.
I’ll be back soon with my impressions of what New Zealand is doing to help build sustainable businesses in the island province of Camiguin.

This is a great initiative – I am really impressed.
For those of us who are still writing with quills, it is a bit of a prompt.
I look forward to future posts.
